I'm looking to move a large amount of images to S3 as a sort of reverse backup (will be serving from S3 but keeping copies on my server as well initially) but was worried about huge costs - you have reassured me somewhat.</description>

We do run adverts on our system in a very similar way they are shown at wp.com but at this time there is no demand for more upload space. We allow 50MB (not 51 like you did) and never had a request for more.   

We have not noticed any issues with Amazon's service but we could remove the plugin at any moment and return to serve the files from our server.

Regarding the option of serving users files form S3 I have not done any coding but I do think I have a strategy worked out.</description>
