Welcome To The Jungle, Brooke Shields

February 15th, 2007

Brooke Shields has reportedly signed on for a new NBC series set to premiere this fall. Based on Candace Bushnell’s most recent novel, the series will be titled ‘Lipstick Jungle.’ Bushnell was the auther of the hit novel-turned-TV show, ‘Sex and the City.’

While ‘Sex and the City’ centered on four women in their mid thirties dealing with sex, relationships and their careers in New York City, ‘Lipstick Jungle’ will take that story a few steps further. The new series will center on three wealthy, successful women in their forties dealing with their careers and relationships in New York City. Ok, so far it sounds just like ‘Sex and the City’ except subtract one woman and add five or ten years. Then again, the fact that this series is set to air on NBC, we probably shouldn’t expect some of the occasionally steamy and often hilarious bedroom scenes that ‘Sex and the City’ usually delivered.

January 25th, 2007

Tom Cruise has made more than his fair share of publicity in the past few years. Not only has he been one of the most open celebrities when it comes to his love for new wife Katie Holmes but he’s attracted some negative attention as well. Tom’s passion for Scientology has generated some hostility between himself and other well-known celebrities like Brooke Shields. Tom is very open about is love for Scientology which has also brought a lot of well-needed attention to the religion.

Before Tom Cruise, a number of people were relatively unaware of what Scientology was and how many people supported it. Apparently, it’s very popular, especially among celebrities (like Kelly Preston) and is supported by many people all over the world. To officially be named the ‘Christ’ of Scientology must have been quite the honor for the “Mission Impossible” star.

So how exactly did Tom Cruise become the Jesus Christ of Scientology? A lot of support and an undying love for the religion. According to the Sun, Scientology leader David Miscavige believes that Tom Cruise and Jesus Christ share a lot of the same characteristics. David says “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure”. He goes onto explain why Tom has been compared to such powerful figure in the history of the world. “Like Christ, he’s been criticized for his views. But future generations will realize he was right”, Miscavige finishes.
