Advanced Embedded Systems Releases it’s 4 channel, digital I/O and Analog I/O, Wireless Modbus and Peer to Peer RTU

Monday, February 27th, 2006

The RT12_4444_9T_W20, wireless RTU is the newest in a generation of Remote Terminal Units from Advanced Embedded Systems, allowing the monitoring and control of, 4 high resolution analog inputs, 4 high resolution analog outputs, 4 discrete inputs and 4 discrete outputs. The RT12_4444_9T_W20 is an ideal solution for monitoring inventory tanks, remote control and monitoring of well pumps, lift stations, SCADA equipment, data loggers, load cells, pressure, voltage, current, temperature and humidity.

The RT12_4444_9T_W20 may be configured to accept pulse or frequency inputs allowing for expand applications such as wireless meter reading.

The RT12_4444_9T_W20 combines traditional Remote analog and discrete I/O functions of a Modbus RTU with built-in wireless connectivity, reducing cost and simplifying installation and support. The Wireless RTU can serve as a “standard” Modbus Slave RTU in a radio based SCADA system. The RT12_4444_9T_W20 is “plug-and-play” compatible with all popular SCADA/DCS Modbus software packages including WonderWare®, FactoryLink®, Labview®, PLCs and process controllers.

Optional configuration features such as polling rates, SLAVE id number, I/O addressing, alarms, etc, may be easily changed.

“We make it easy for companies to enhance and expand a control system combined with the flexibility of our wireless Modbus controller helps companies cut costs and custom-fit wireless communication according to their needs”, said Bill Conley, Founder and President of AES. Our continuing goal is to produce high quality, low cost, easy to use wireless analog solutions. The RT12_4444_9T_W20 allows for easy connectivity between a remote site and a PLC or monitoring station. We’re convinced it’s the most cost-efficient, ready-to-use answer to remote telemetry monitoring and control.”

Wireless IP/Ethernet Device offers DNP.3 routing

Sunday, February 26th, 2006

Microwave Data Systems (MDS), a world leader in industrial, wireless, networking solutions with applications in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), automation, telecommunications, public safety, and online transactional markets, today announced the MDS entraNET 900 now offers enhanced Distributed Network Protocol (DNP.3) routing over an Internet Protocol (IP) backbone network.

The MDS entraNET is a long-range, solar-friendly, secure, wireless IP/Ethernet solution. Now with DNP.3 routing capability, it enables peer-to-peer networking, allowing customers to bring mission-critical information over Ethernet or a serial gateway and onto IP-based networks.

Using the MDS entraNET in peer-to-peer networks provides numerous benefits over mesh networking, including the ability to build out larger and geographically distributed networks while maintaining near real-time response. It also provides redundancy in critical locations, the ability to manage a simple network, and a lower cost of implementation.

Datastick Systems, Inc. Announces First Shipment of PDA-based Vibration Spectrum Analyzer

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Datastick Systems, Inc., today announced its first customer shipment of the VSA-1212 Vibration Spectrum Analyzer, the first PDA-based vibration analyzer to provide open, non-proprietary desktop PC software built on a foundation of Microsoft® Excel®. Michael Scandling, Datastick Vice President of Marketing, announced shipments to the USA, Europe, and South America from the company’s headquarters in Silicon Valley.

The system includes the new Datastick® VSA-1212 Vibration Spectrum Analyzer module that attaches securely to select PDAs running Palm OS; new Datastick Spectrum handheld software that collects and stores vibration measurements while displaying them in time waveforms and FFT spectra complete with alarm levels; and Datastick Reporting System(TM) (DRS) software for PCs, which is based on Microsoft Excel. Vibration data from the PDA exports to the PC with a single press of a button and loads into the DRS workbook on the PC with two mouse-clicks.

The VSA-1212 module is designed to use standard ICP®-type industrial accelerometers. The Datastick Spectrum software that runs on the PDA places all the vital waveform or FFT spectral information on one screen. Data can be shown in terms of acceleration, velocity, or displacement. Versatile cursor-point tools enable precise zooming and numerical readout of any data point, and can show the relationship between any two data points. An “Add Note” feature allows the user to attach written observations to individual waveform or spectrum captures.

Data Translation DT9832 – Multichannel acquisition modules speed up to 2MHz

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Data Translation has released the DT9832 Series of simultaneous analogue input multifunction data acquisition modules for USB 2.0. The DT9832 Series offers two or four channels of simultaneous, 16bit analogue measurement at ultra-high-throughput speeds up to 2MHz per channel. ‘This revolutionary series offers very fast simultaneous sampling of four independent analogue channels’, states Fred Molinari, President and CEO.

‘Customers are attempting to correlate physical phenomena at the same exact instant in time’.

‘Now they can do this with fast frequency component signals as found in semiconductor device characterisation, nanotechnology testing, scientific analysis, drug discovery and automotive testing’.

Each analogue channel in the DT9832 Series has its own 16bit A/D convertor that uses a common clock and trigger for simultaneous and synchronous sampling of all analogue and digital inputs at the exact same instant in time.

Advantech Launches 12-Bit Multifunctional I/O Module with Programmable Gain

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech introduces the PCM-3718HO. The PCM-3718HO is a multifunctional I/O card with PC/104 interface, 16 analog inputs, one analog output, 16 digital I/O channels, and counter functions.

Such a broad range of functions in a single PC/104 card is a significant breakthrough and will be appreciated by embedded system developers with demanding space constraints. Using the compact PC/104 form factor, the card enables better integration and can be fitted into smaller systems such as the UNO-2160 embedded industrial PC. “The PC/104 form factor is suitable for system integrators that need more functions in less space, like machine makers”, said Richard Yu, Product Manager at Advantech. “PCM-3718HO covers many of the functions commonly needed in machine automation; we believe this product will be well received by our customers.”

The main features of the PCM-3718HO are: 16 single-ended or 8 different analog inputs, 12-bit A/D converter up to 100 KHz sampling rate with DMA transfer, two 8-bit digital input/output TTL level channels, and one 12-bit analog output channel.

The PCM-3718HO starts at $255 and is available for purchase directly from Advantech.
